Why Is Green Tea Probably One of The Healthiest Drinks?

What Is Green Tea?

Green tea is made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis tea plant. It is not made from any herb or other plants. This tea is called green because the leaves are stopped from oxidizing during the manufacturing process. There are thousands of green tea varieties. Many people are used to drinking processed and manufactured green teas, but those teas do not offer the real health benefits of green tea. The highest quality green teas are handmade and have all the beneficial ingredients for which they are known.

Two Different Types of Green Leaves

Camellia Sinensis Sinensis with smaller leaves is native to China. Its plants thrive in mountainous regions and can grow abundantly in cold climates. Another variety Camellia Sinensis Assamica with large leaves is native to the Assam region in India. Its plants thrive in moist and warm temperatures. Over time, hundreds of hybrid plants and cultivars have evolved and been developed from these two plant varieties.

Processing

During the processing of the tea leaves, the process is stopped to the step where the content can be called green tea. Once the leaves have been harvested from the plants, they are quickly heated with steaming or pan firing. In the next step, the leaves are quickly dried to prevent oxidation and browning of the leaves. It also contains any change in the flavor. When you brew this tea, you will get a green, light brown or yellow colour liquid. The flavour tastes toasted or vegetal. It has a lightly sweet and steamy taste. When this tea is brewed properly, its color will remain light and not turn dark. While green tea originated in China, today it is sourced from many regions around the world.
