Shedding Light on The Vegan Diet.
Nowadays people are more conscious about the ways they eat. Therefore, they would go to any length in finding solutions for better health benefits, including a thinner waistline & improved sugar levels. This has paved the way for the birth of various diet programs the world over & has been successfully embraced by many. One such initiative is the Vegan diet which is changing the way you eat. A diet that is meant to make you healthier yet keeps you environment & animal friendly, unlike other diet programs.
Explaining the Vegan Diet
Said in a vegan diet, you just eat vegetables or plant-based products only. Vegetables, grains, nuts, fruits, or foods made from only plants are eaten in a vegan diet. Food from animals, including dairy products, even eggs, are not consumed in a vegan diet.
There are several types of vegan diets. The most common are:
Whole-food vegan diet: In this diet, only whole plants food are consumed. Namely, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, etc.
Raw-food vegan diet: Food is not cooked in totality but kept a bit raw. Vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, or plant-based foods are cooked at a temperature below 48 degrees Centigrade & eaten.
80/10/10 vegan diet: This raw-food vegan diet restricts eating of fat-rich plants such as avocado, nuts, etc., & encourages you to soft-green plants & raw fruits. This diet is also called a fruitarian diet due to its dependence on raw fruits.
The starch diet: Like the above diet, a low-fat, high-carb vegan diet, but focus on consuming cooked starches such as rice, potatoes, & corn in place of fruits.
Raw till four vegan diets: In this low-fat vegan diet, natural foods are eaten till 4 pm & a cooked plant-based spread for dinner.
Thrive Vegan diet: A raw-food vegan diet where plant-based or whole foods are either eaten raw or partially cooked at low temperatures.
Junk-food vegan diet: A mock diet where imitations of meat, cheese, fries, or even desserts or other processed foods are made from whole plants. This entire plant food keeps you happy in fulfilling the cravings for junk food whenever you are on a vegan diet.
Benefits of Vegan Diet
- Many people are becoming vegans to lose excess body weight. Being a vegan will help you to become thinner & even have a lower BMI when compared to a non-vegan. A study has shown that a vegan diet helps lose weight faster in contrast to those undertaking calorie-restricted diet plans. This is because of the high-fiber, low-calorie intake of a vegan diet which makes you eat less while keeping you feeling full.
- A vegan diet helps you to lower your blood sugar levels while increasing insulin sensitivity, keeping you away from type 2 diabetics. This is due to the high-fiber intake in a vegan diet which dampens the blood sugar response.
- A vegan diet is healthy for your heart. Vegan diets are effective in reducing blood sugar, LDL & total cholesterol & lower the risk of developing high blood pressure & dying due to a heart ailment.
- Vegan diets have many health benefits including negating the risk of cancer, better kidney function, reducing symptoms of arthritis, & reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
Unlike all other diets, the vegan diet is the most beneficial & significantly healthier option for you. This is because the vegan diet helps you regain a healthier & lighter you and turns you onto animal & environment-friendly person of mother earth.
